El combate tuvo lugar en el Mar Amarillo el 29 de junio de 2002, cuando dos barcos norcoreanos atravesaron la línea límite norte, disparando al patrullero de Corea del Sur Chamsuri 357, matando a seis hombres e hiriendo a otros dieciocho.
